"The Childhood Years of Bagrov the Grandson," which serves as a continuation of the "Family Chronicle" - the second part of the autobiographical trilogy of Sergei Timofeevich Aksakov, which tells about his childhood in the South Urals from 1794 to 1801. "Grandfather's Stories," as the book was called in the manuscript, were written later than the other two parts of the trilogy, in 1854-1856. A separate book was published in 1858, with a dedication to the granddaughter Olenka (1848-1921). A year before the publication of the book, individual chapters were published in the Russian Conversation. In genre terms, this book has many characteristics of an educational novel. It is accompanied by the fairy tale "Olenkin Flower" ("The Scarlet Flower"), told to the main character during his illness by the housekeeper Pelageya.
