Operation of the Sapsan EMU began in December 2009 on the St. Petersburg-Moscow route, which marked the beginning of the development of high-speed communication in the Russian Federation. The tutorial covers general information about the train, its operational characteristics, mechanical and electrical parts, the theoretical foundations of the operation of semiconductor converters, safety system devices, as well as passenger comfort systems. Diagrams of braking and electrical equipment, illustrations allowing to study the structure of the electric train are given. Particular attention is paid to the operation of the train control system using digital-to-analog converters of traction and braking subsystems.
