Throughout the history of book studies in Ukraine, this work for the first time examines the development of the book in connection with the development of social thought and the revolutionary movement in Russia and Ukraine. Since all Ukrainian lands were included in the process of social and national liberation movements, the presentation of the history of the book covers to the same extent Eastern Ukraine, Galicia, Bukovina and Transcarpathia.
