In the wasteland among the high-rise buildings of the city of Beschel, located somewhere on the edge of Europe, the body of a murdered woman is found. To police inspector Tiodor Borl, it seems like a chore. To conduct the investigation, Borlu must leave the gloomy Beschel and go to the neighboring city of Ul-Kom, which is experiencing economic growth. But this is not just a physical crossing of the border, not only bodily, but also spiritual journey - he must see the invisible.
