Nikon Chronicle is the largest monument of Russian chronicles of the 16th century. Named after Patriarch Nikon, who owned one of her lists. According to the concept of B. M. Kloss, the original edition of the Nikon Chronicle is presented in the Obolensky list, or rather, in its first 939 sheets. This code was compiled between 1526 and 1530, with the participation of Metropolitan Daniel of Moscow. Later, sheets 940-1166 were woven to Obolensky's list outlining the events of 1521-1556. Its final part (sheets 1167-1209 from paper of the mid-1570s) describes the events of 1556-1558. The new edition of the Nikon Chronicle was compiled around 1637, " The Tale of the Life of Fyodor Ivanovich " and " The New Chronicler ". Despite the significant completeness of the information, it did not include all the texts available in earlier chronicles. For example, there is no " Russian truth ", folklore stories about Olga's revenge on the Drevlyans (945) and about the siege of Belgorod by the Pechenegs (997) are very briefly presented.
