The book highlights the historical and cultural circumstances of the emergence on the site of present-day Odessa at the beginning of the XIV century. two anchorages Ginestra (gorse) and Flordelis (lilies). These flowers were the heraldic emblems of the related royal dynasties of the Plantagenets and Capetians, whom the French king Louis the Saint tried to unite by creating the knightly Order of Droc Pods (1234). Anchorages were founded by the knight of this order, one of the leaders of the Catalan Company of the East (1303-1311), knight and condottier Bernard de Rocafort as outposts on the western borders of the Christian world against the Golden Horde.
