The book tells about the outstanding Old Russian commander and statesman, Grand Duke Alexander Yaroslavich Nevsky, under whose banners the Russians repelled two crusades - German and Swedish knights, having won glorious victories for Russian history on the banks of the Neva and the ice of Lake Peipsi. For military and grand-ducal works, Alexander Nevsky was canonized into saints by the Russian Orthodox Church.
