The book tells about the round-the-world travels of O.E. Kotzebue, made by him in 1815-1818. and in 1823-1826. The first expedition on the ship "Rurik" was organized at the private expense of Count N.P. Rumyantsev and pursued scientific goals. The story of this journey was written immediately after the ship arrived on its native shores. The second expedition on the Enterprise sloop had purely official tasks. After completing the voyage, O.E. Kotzebue prepared a report in Russian in an extremely brief form, and then a few years later wrote a detailed story about this voyage in German, which was published in 1830 in the city of Weimar. All three narratives were included in the actual volume of "Travel Library."
