This documentary collection was prepared on the basis of a frontal study of a documentary source of a mass nature, which is the books of the Grodno and Zemstvo courts of the 16th century, stored in the Central Central Administrative Commission of Ukraine, Kyiv. According to the content, the documents of the collection reveal both the material world of everyday human life, and the most diverse aspects of social practices and daily contacts and relationships within the estates, as well as the interaction of various states of the then Ukrainian society: ordinary gentry, philistinism, peasantry, clergy and ethnic groups living on the territory of Ukrainian lands, in particular Volyn.
