The modern edition of Poetics of Plot and Genre, O. M. Freidenberg's doctoral dissertation (1890-1955), is quite comparable in importance to the publication of another dissertation - M. M. Bakhtin's book "The Work of Francois Rabelais and the Folk Culture of the Middle Ages and Renaissance." The reader is offered not just a reprint of the monograph O.M. Freidenberg, published in 1936, but a text equipped with a scientific apparatus revised under the direction of N.V. Brahinsky.
