Since 1958, the State Publishing House of Geographical Literature begins to publish the yearbook calendar "Land and People." The Geographical Calendar, published for the first time in our country, comes out at a time when the Soviet people and all progressive humanity are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. In articles and notes devoted to the geography of the Soviet Union, the editors sought to show, using separate examples, huge changes in the appearance of our Motherland over the years of Soviet power.
