Biographies of prominent figures of ancient Greece, compiled according to Plutarch. Greek scholar and social activist Plutarch lived nineteen centuries ago. His writings on political, religious, pedagogical, historical topics are widely known. He was one of the first to introduce the biographical genre into history, describing the past of his native country in the biographies of its political figures. Plutarch's "comparative biographies" formed the basis of this collection.
