When the imperious governor arrives with a fleet of mechanical dragons and stops the attack on the village of Anley, the inhabitants see him as salvation. They agree to give him their sacred relic in exchange for permanent protection if he marries one of the girls of the village to strengthen the union. Anley is not happy that the viceroy chooses her bride, but the fate of her people is at stake, and she has to surrender. Anley's plans collapse when the young thief steals the relic.
