Fifteen-year-old Dick Murdoch leaves Venus to meet his father on the moon. In flight, the captain of the spacecraft stops to study the remains of the same passenger ship. No one knows who attacked the dead ship - others call the culprit "Basilisk." Dick's adventures aboard ship and on the moon lead to the disclosure of one piece of evidence after another.
