This edition is a scientific and biographical sketch of the life and career of academician Sergei Evgenievich Severin, written by his student, developing and continuing his scientific research, Alexander Alexandrovich Boldyrev. S.E. Severin was the founder of the domestic school of biochemists, who brought up a brilliant galaxy of outstanding scientists who are currently fruitfully working on the problems of modern biochemistry, cell biology, bioenergy, biophysics. The book reflects various aspects of the scientific biography of C. E. Severin, his pioneering role in establishing the Department of Biochemistry at Moscow University, his lecture activities, as well as his efforts to organize biochemical science in our country, to which S.E. Severin devoted a lot of effort and attention as president of the All-Union Biochemical Society, editor-in-chief of the journal Biochemistry, chairman of the Scientific Council on Animal and Human Biochemistry of the Academy of Sciences.
