The book describes how to apply AST to RPP and the spectrum of behavior associated with RPP. It is intended for clinical and educational purposes, as well as to guide clinical research and is based on the experience of treating people with anorexia nervosa and their families at the Center for Eating Disorders at Duke University Medical Center. The book provides all the necessary information to conduct a functional assessment of adolescents and adults. and to achieve individual treatment goals, starting with recovery of normal body weight. It discusses ways to involve parents and other family members in treatment. In addition, the book presents scripts for a psychotherapist, sample dialogues, case examples, as well as handouts. This book can be used to treat clients with anorexia nervosa of all ages.
