The book presents materials from the 10th St. Petersburg International Colloquium on Russian History, which was devoted to a complex and controversial period of history. The organizers of the colloquium proposed to place the Russian Revolution of 1917 in the context of the wider revolutionary crisis of 1914-1922. The period from the beginning of World War I to the end of the Civil War in Russia made it possible to consider the processes of medium duration and see the prerequisites and consequences of the events concluded between February and October.
