The purpose of the study is to recognize the heroic epic as a specific and subject to deep development of a historical source, as well as to confirm the ideas and methods of the scientific academic school of studying heroic epics on the specific material of Ossetian legends about sledges considered in the context of North Caucasian archaeological sites.
