The collection includes articles prepared on the basis of reports that were read on November 17, 1998 as part of scientific readings in memory of the associate professor of the Department of History of the Ancient East, an excellent Egyptologist and a wonderful lecturer I.V. Vinogradov (1933-1984), awarded in 1981 Certificate of Honor University "For high pedagogical skills." This edition is the second issue of the cathedral collection Assyriology and Egyptology. The first issue was published on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the birth of Academician V.V. Struve (Assyriology and Egyptology: Sat. Art. Resp. ed L.A. Lipin. L., 1964).
