Naum Sindalovsky's new book contains proverbs, sayings, puns, whose appearance is associated with St. Petersburg. Some of them date back to the first years of the city's existence, but exist in the speech of Petersburgers to this day. Folklore offers us its own history of the city and its inhabitants, in which political and cultural events coexist with the details of everyday life. Equally relevant for folklore, they characterize from different sides several eras of the development of the state and mass consciousness.
