The book is a monographic edition of all legal texts preserved in the Old Russian translation, one of the most important monuments of Byzantine bookishness - "Pandects of Nikon Montenegrin." The publication is being undertaken for the first time and meets all the requirements of scientific and critical editorial practice. The text of the Old Russian translation, published according to eleven oldest lists, is accompanied by a parallel Greek original according to three lists. The publication is equipped with Slavic-Greek and Greek-Slavic term indexes. The book provides linguists and historians with a new source of information about the legal language and terminology of ancient Russia. Its publication will serve as a contribution to the study of the reception of Byzantine law in Russia.
