The collective monograph is devoted to insufficiently studied issues of the history of the death penalty and imprisonment in Russia. The main advantage of the monograph can be attributed to the widespread use of previously unpublished act material of the XVII-XVIII centuries. The monograph is an original completed study on complex issues of the penitentiary history of Russia, based on archival materials.
