An inexplicable phenomenon occurs in the mine of a mining colony on the planet Knorosom: 37 workers disappear. The last communication session with the colony control center took place automatically - a distress signal was broadcast, immediately after which the connection was cut off. The military is imposing a state of emergency and taking control of transport routes on Knoros. The head of one of the largest corporations secretly sends a cargo ship on an unplanned voyage to deliver a scientist with a security group to the scene. However, the secret mission breaks down. Having left the Earth's atmosphere, the ship mysteriously moves in time, after which part of its engines stop working. The crew and passengers are at a loss and are forced to split up to return to the spaceport.
