In the textbook, along with the topics traditional for the course of German lexicology (word and its meaning, ambiguity and homonymy, paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations in the language system, sociolinguistics, phraseology, etc.), from a modern scientific point of view, the current directions of the theory of language and lexicon are considered: cognitive linguistics, linguistic aspects of tender research, national and cultural specifics of German vocabulary, language and intercultural communication, prospects and trends in the development of the modern German language.
