Louis Dumont's book " Homo hierarchicus " is primarily an Indological work. It is dedicated to the caste system - one of the most important features of Indian life, which dominates the ideology of the social and cultural life of all Indian peoples. Regarding caste, Dumont believed that it was a regional civilizational model built on its own conscious principles.
