This work was written in order to acquaint people interested in the history of philosophy (especially materialistic), the history of religion and the history of culture in general, with examples of medieval philosophical and religious Tamil literature, and at the same time to introduce at least a small part of the rich literary heritage of the South Indian Middle Ages.
