For the first time in Russian historiography, the process of mythologizing the image of A.V. Suvorov is investigated. The appearance of the first anecdotes about the life and work of the commander is considered, the process of transformation of a real episode into a myth is shown. The reliability of the most common myths about Suvorov has been analyzed.
