"Library of Ancient Literature" - a series of books published by the publishing house "Fiction" in the USSR in 1963-1989. The prefaces to the books of the series were written by famous philologists and antiquologists - A.F. Losev, M.L. Gasparov and others. In these introductory essays, serious research (according to S. S. Averintsev, in any introductory article by Gasparov "for the editions of the Library of Ancient Literature series, the coefficient of originality of thought is very high") was combined with a popular and accessible presentation. The series contains the best examples of fiction in ancient Greece and Rome. All volumes were monotonously designed.
