The monograph is devoted to one of the little-studied problems of Russian English studies - the formation of the administrative system of the British Empire in the XVII-XVIII centuries. Much attention is paid to the relationship between the metropolis and the colonies, the relationship of English political realities and colonial politics, the role of the state in the formation of British colonialism in early modern times. Some aspects of the colonization of North America, the West Indies and South Asia are also considered.
