The historical and literary essay offered to the reader marks a new step in the study of "The Words about Igor's Regiment." The ethnographic and historical material attracted by the author allows us to reconstruct an archaic worldview, without which it is impossible to answer the main questions that the Word posed to researchers. Some so-called "dark places" of the main monument of Old Russian literature find a reading.
