"Times of the Sea" is an amazing fusion of psychological travel novel and adventure prose with elements of a family saga. The story of the pursuit of a huge Greenland shark in the waters of Norway, echoing Melville's Moby Dick and Hemingway's Old Man and the Sea, amazes and attracts with its intonation, friendly and surprisingly respectful towards marine life, even if it is a huge and gloomy horror story, like a shark. The story of catching a monster is elegantly interfaced with the memories of the two main characters about the fate of their families, with old legends about ancient underwater monsters and with professional fishing advice.
