The anthology on the history of Northern Bashkortostan includes documents on the history of the city of Birsk and nearby regions of the Republic of Belarus from the 17th to the beginning of the 20th centuries. The publication was prepared by the staff of the historical faculty of the Birsk State Social and Pedagogical Academy and the Department of History of Bashkortostan IIYAL UC RAS. The textbook is based on unique documents about the life of an ordinary Mari, Russian, Bashkir peasantry, the socio-economic development of the village, participation in popular movements, descriptions of settlements, for the first time a fragment from the work of the outstanding geographer V.P. Semenov-Tyan-Shansky is published. In addition, the textbook includes several scientific articles on the ancient history of the region, the fate of Orthodox churches, the development of the city of Birsk and the situation of the local merchants.
