The steady trend of the increasing role of fire on the battlefields, which persisted throughout the 15th-19th centuries, did not lead to fire becoming dominant on the battlefield. Even in the wars of the second half of the 19th century, fire did not fully solve the outcome of the battle, battle. Only a new technical base, created at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, made possible the mass production and use of rapid-firing rifled weapons, which established the dominant role of fire in achieving victory and entailed significant changes in the field of military affairs.
