The monograph covers the life and work of the remarkable artist of the mid-18th century M.I. Makhaev (1717-1770), the first Russian draftsman. The book examines in detail the famous views of St. Petersburg and the "avenues" of Moscow, engraved on the originals of Makhaev, as well as his surviving drawings.
