Despite all attempts by opponents of the leadership of the People of the House of the Prophet (Ahl al-Beit) to belittle the role of the Lord of Believers, may there be peace with him in religion by deliberately concealing, destroying and inventing Islamic traditions, Sunni books have preserved a great many indications of his sole right to complete inheritance of the caliphate immediately after the death of the Messenger of Allah, as well as descriptions of his merits. Many prominent Sunni scholars, such as Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Ismail ibn Ishaq, Nisai and Abu Ali al-Neishaburi, stated that "no one transmitted more reliable and reliable legends about the companions of the Prophet than hadiths telling about Ali ibn Abu Talib."
