In today's Estonia, allegations persist that during the Second World War, Estonian soldiers did not participate in the service of the Wehrmacht in punitive actions, had nothing to do with the executions of civilians and the extermination of Jews. This is insisted not only by Estonian combatants, not only by young neo-Nazis, who unselectively promote slogans that are at least surprising for a country admitted to the European Union, but also by senior officials, including former Estonian President Arnold Rüütel.
