Written in 1895, the science fiction novel "Floating Island" is part of the extensive series "Extraordinary Travels," which Jules Verne began to write in 1863. This series included most of the writer's works. In the novel, Verne describes American millionaires who decided to isolate themselves from the world around them and as a result suffered a catastrophe. The text of the novel is translated by E. Lopyreva and N. Rykova, edited by B. Weisman. The illustrations in this edition were made by the wonderful artist Pyotr Ivanovich Lugansky.
