In the work "Hired Labor and Capital," the essence of the entire capitalist system, what it is based on and how it functions, is well explained in the simplest and most accessible language. The work "Wages, Price and Profit" explains what wages of a hired worker are, how their level is formed and how capitalists make their profits. In this work, Marx exposes the most important myth of the bourgeoisie, widely spread by it among the workers: that it is supposedly possible to get out of poverty if you work more. Marx shows and proves by examples that the capitalist system is arranged in such a way that the more a worker works, the more he enriches his capitalist employer - the deeper he drives himself into poverty.
