This is an edition of the undeservedly forgotten fundamental work of a large team of Russian historians of the 19th century, edited by P.P. Semenov, chairman of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society. The titanic task has been completed: detailed historical, geographical, cultural and economic information about all Russian regions has been collected and a description of our homeland has been compiled at a high scientific and artistic level.
