All available data on amphibians living in the Far East of Russia within the Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories, Amur, Chita, Magadan, Kamchatka and Sakhalin Regions, Jewish Autonomous Region, Aginsky Buryat, Chukotka and Koryak Autonomous Okrugs are summarized. The physical geography of the region, the history of the study of amphibians (including the traditional ideas about them of the indigenous peoples of the Far East), the composition and history of the fauna, the general features of the structure and dynamics of multi-species assemblies of amphibians, the problems of population decline and species protection, in particular, the role of reserves in protection are described. Keys are given to identify caviar, larvae and adults.
