This volume of materials of the United Nobility covers the period from March 1913 to December 3, 1916, when the last, XII Congress, of authorized provincial noble societies ended. This almost four years has contained the most dramatic pages of the history of the association and the entire Russian nobility - from the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty and the first months of the World War, caused a surge of patriotic and loyal sentiments, to the growing discontent with military defeats and the inability of the government to cope with the growing economic difficulties and, finally, to direct claims to the supreme power for the fact that in these most difficult conditions it showed "fluctuations in its own foundations," succumbing to the influence of "dark forces."
