The book contains texts of the best original stories of the 17th century, literary translations of those whose texts may be difficult to understand, introductory articles to each story and, as necessary, comments (mainly historical) to each of them. "The Tale of Woe-Sorrow" and "The Tale of Frol Skobeev" are published without translations.
