When the signature under the verses appeared on the pages of the Bulletin of Europe in 1879 - K.R., hardly all readers were unaware of the cryptonym. Not only in the capital, but also in the provinces they knew that the great Russian prince Konstantin Konstantinovich Romanov (grandson of Nicholas I) writes and translates poetry, is in correspondence with Tchaikovsky, Fet, Maykov, is fond of Goethe. During his lifetime, K.R. released a three-volume collected works, numerous separate editions. He wrote excellent translations of Western European classics, interesting critical articles. This collection includes selected poems, a number of translations, the drama "King of the Jews."
