Josef Dobrovsky - Czech philologist (linguist, literary critic, folklorist), historian and educator, one of the most important figures of the Czech national revival. Usually considered the founder of Slavic linguistics as a science, during his lifetime he was called the "father," the "patriarch" of Slavic studies. He made a fundamental contribution to the study of Old Slavonic and the codification of the Czech literary language.
