The work analyzes the language of Old Provencal poetry, formed at the junction of two cultures - Western European and Arab-Spanish. In this regard, the general problems of the typology of literature of the East and West and their defining poetic and aesthetic theories and representations are touched upon. The issues of methodology of research of medieval languages ​ ​ and texts are considered. The features of the formation of the language of the troubadours as a characteristic medieval literary and poetic language are covered. At the end of the book is an appendix - "Songs of the Troubadours."
