Fyodor Petrovich Litke is one of the prominent geographers of the 19th century, known for his studies of the Arctic and circumnavigation of the world. F.P. Litke made not only a significant contribution to the development of domestic geography, but also served as President of the Academy of Sciences for a long time, was one of the founders of the Russian Geographical Society. The result of his voyages were the books "Four-time journey to the Arctic Ocean" and "Travel around the world on the Senyavin sloop of war," which were included in this volume of the Travel Library.
