In the first volume of the collected works of Mikhail Svetlov, his poetry is widely represented: poems, poems, songs, epigrams, translations. Along with mature works, the volume includes and still not included in his collections early poems, written sometimes by an inexperienced hand, but giving an opportunity to see the rapid formation of the poet. The second volume includes six plays by M. Svetlov: "Deep Province" - about the first steps of a socialist village, "Fairy Tale" - about educating young people, "Twenty Years Later" - about the civil war, "Brandenburg Gate" - about the second world war, "Young generation" - about the development of virgin lands, "Love for three oranges" - about loyalty and friendship. All plays are permeated with the spirit of heroism and romance, the author's smart love for young people, a bright call for the upbringing of nobility and patriotism. The third volume included literary and critical articles by M. Svetlov, his reviews of books by many poets, autobiographical notes and memoirs. A special section is made up of peculiar short stories, which the writer called fairy tales for adults or "Matured fairy tales."
