The book recreates the history of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO RAS), from which a galaxy of statesmen and prominent politicians emerged - Alexander Yakovlev, Evgeny Primakov, Boris Fedorov, Igor Ivanov, Viktor Sheinis, Alexey Arbatov... Among the immigrants from IMEMO are economic reformers, successful entrepreneurs and large managers. Created in 1956 in the wake of the XX Congress, IMEMO for three and a half decades was a leading "think tank" in the USSR for the study of economic and political problems of the modern world, providing the highest Soviet leadership with appropriate scientific developments.
