Outlines the basics of energy saving in agriculture as a multifunctional process, taking into account agricultural technological and anthropogenic factors. The historical and world experience of energy saving is presented. Characteristics of fuel and energy resources and renewable energy sources are considered. Concepts such as energy analysis and energy intensity of agricultural products, energy equivalent, content and energy efficiency of agricultural products, materials, machinery and fertilizers are used.
