This chronicle is the first attempt to reflect in a systematic form the history of political repression, penitentiary institutions and resistance to the regime in the Kama region. Of course, it is not exhaustive: there are still a lot of secrets kept by archives. The facts cited are sometimes far from equivalent, the interpretation of some events may be controversial, but the publication may be of undoubted interest to both students and everyone interested in the history of the region.
